Worker at Tesla's Fremont plant told me: “We’re extremely frustrated, angry, scared, that Elon is putting his cars before his workers."
Conversation
I heard that other workers are extremely grateful to have a job and be back at work, and that they appreciate Elon taking on the personal risk in order to save their factory. I also heard that employment in California is at-will and people who don't like having a job can quit.

That is highly insensitive; people who don’t like having a job can quit?
California is still around 25,000 tests/day in a state of 39M.
How about people want to ensure they don’t contract a disease which has killed 70,000 people in 2 months in this country.

Those people are also eligible to quit under California law.

And under OSHA an employer must provide a workplace free from serious recognized hazards; how can one do that if all of their employees haven’t been tested?

You could ask people to exercise good judgement, stay home if they think they're likely to be infected. Even if everyone tests and is 100% clear, they could be infected 5 minutes later. Are you going to test everybody every day forever? You have to go with risk-adjusted return.
Every other major car manufacturer is back to work, David. So are many other Californian factories.
Why is Tesla not allowed to?

Ric I just don’t want you guys to experience what happened here in NYC; have friends who are docs on the front lines and I know how bad it got here..
Everyone should be tested; to say “if you don’t feel good stay home” shows a lack of knowledge as you can spread asymptomatically
