I am considering investing in certain emergency-related devices and consumables. I intend to sell at a 1000%+ profit, at a future date. The profit will reflect inflation, opportunity and carrying costs. Q: should I stock these supplies or will I be barred from making a profit?

If your purchase has to do with this crisis, your ethnics should be questioned. If you were in position for a future crisis, I guess that is fine. Depends on how well you sleep at night.

It would be for a future crisis. So, it's ok to profit from a crisis but only if you have set up your position X amount of time ahead of the exit? How much time in advance is enough?

I just don’t think it is ethical to profit from a future crisis. Definitely not 1000%. Couldn’t tell you what is right but I know that this would feel wrong. For Me.

Interesting dilemma. Those masks that you didn’t stockpile would still go to people in need. Whether it be now or in the future. To clarify, do you mean better for society or better for you?

I mean better for society. If I didn't order them, the manufacturer wouldn't make them. So, they would not exist to go to people in need. The manufacturer is in the business of making masks, not speculating on stockpiles of dead assets.

We're all remote these days. Few offices we had were < 40 people each. Not much to see and Security is pretty strict about who gets in.
