I am considering investing in certain emergency-related devices and consumables. I intend to sell at a 1000%+ profit, at a future date. The profit will reflect inflation, opportunity and carrying costs.
Q: should I stock these supplies or will I be barred from making a profit?

Agreed. Depends on your state. Past might be prologue as seen here.. google.com/amp/s/www.nyti

It does seem risky. Problem is, if there is no profit motive to stockpile, individuals and businesses won't stockpile. Which means, it's up to the government to stockpile and if they don't, we're screwed. If everyone could profit from stockpiling, we'd all be prepared. catch-22.

If it wasn't health-related, I'd say it's fine. However, people are dying due to lack of supplies now; therefore it is unethical to take advantage of this situation like that

So then it just won’t be available. And that’s better?
