Imo unschooling is underrated. It takes a lot of trust from the parents, but I know of no better way for kids to truly discover their autonomy, passions, and self-efficacy.

It's remarkable what a high percentage of the really smart people I've met in my career were unschooled. At the same time, I also met a small number of unschoolers as a kid who were basically just dropouts.
This could be a good time to try it and see if it works for your kids.
