I'd guess a lot of people don't tip for takeout, or tip much less. Great idea to be super generous with tips for takeout.

How do we know the folks preparing the food or packing the food aren't sick and are taking proper precautions with gloves/masks?

The more they need the hours/pay, the more likely they are to show up to work sick. Fully cooked food from a grade A kitchen is probably pretty safe but you're right that it's not as safe as just cooking for yourself at home.

Neighbor of mine in Kirkland WA is organizing a “bring takeout food to local hospital workers” effort; I’m gonna help out. Gather $ from folks, get the food from a local restaurant, take it to Evergreen hospital. (They are slammed with Covid cases.)
