I see people calling out Bezos for paying employees market rate for the job rather than diverting profits to pay above market. Often overlooked downside of paying above market is you get people sticking around who don’t want to be there, which leads to all sorts of problems.

And nobody who criticizes him pays above market rates for inputs in their own life. Meanwhile Bezos has provided hundreds of thousands of people with their best option for employment.

Imagine a situation where you either take a paid slavery job or your kids starve on top of you starving. You can't? That's privilige. Even being born smart is a privilege and you and I have a ton more. Many people have no options through no fault of their own. Think about that.
