If you are a character in a persistent game, what would the win condition be? Do you only have X lives? Do you have to keep going until you achieve Y? Should we play like we've got infinite lives but everyone else is on hardcore/permadeath mode?

You have to start back from the beginning though. But, if you're 20 years old, sentenced to life in prison, respawning would be pretty appealing vs the alternative. Would also save society a fortune on keeping you imprisoned.
