Employee productivity is much higher while employer costs are radically lower. I'd pay employees 10% > so that it's a no brainer for them. Most important thing is to make remote-first the default for the whole company, so that there aren't pockets of 'preferred local workers'

Assume employee will since relocation costs are hugely variable and the employee could choose to nomad eternally. Maybe company covers a one-way ticket anywhere in the world. After that you're on your own.

Wow! Shocked at these initial results. Geographical arbitrage has been one of the best untapped lifehacks of the last 15+ years. Amazed people would discount their own worth by that much. Curious if has data to share?

If you are high earning, you'll immediately save 10%+/yr on income tax. Savings on rent, food & transportation could be another 30%+/yr. Depending on where you're going, quality of life could be substantially improved. What's the value of not having to step over needles & feces?

Going remote (Product Manager) was one of the best things I’ve ever done for me and my family. But to play devil’s advocate, I’d love to hear some arguments why staying SF would be a good thing? (seems like all I hear on Twitter these days is praise for remote)

I’m location independent but stay here for the friends and proximity to people in the startup industry. I do wonder how much that matters in practice and if eg coming here once every (other) month would work just as well.

This is a very important point to consider. Yes it's nice if you COULD work remote, but many never actually do when given the chance. So they end up staying in the same place, with the same expenses, without any of the upsides of having a workplace to go to.

great question, recently my small business which is busier than normal finds itself over employed because of technological investments which makes us so much more productive and portable. I can do my job from anywhere and so can my employees.
