American co's have long censored political opinions in the name of Diversity and Tolerance (Starbucks xmas cups, Mohammad drawings), when really it was about appeasing a profitable market. this time is no different.

the real test would be if someone said something like "I stand with China peaceful reunification" or whatever. would *that* get censored?

Agree. Presumably, yes. In this case we don’t know for sure if the policy was enforced because of the specific content or because of the general violation. Correlation != cause, and Occam’s Razor says they’re enforcing generally so they don’t have to be subjective in each case.

One cannot simultanenously operate a global platform that brings people of all colors together, and allow for that platform to be leveraged in the pursuit of political goals. I don't understand the view that sees this as a failure of Blizzard or capitalism in general.
