's original vision for hashcash to be used as intended: to fight email spam. I'd welcome an email client which required a few satoshis to be paid over Lightning to deliver something to my inbox.
Here are some thoughts on creating an anonymous email client:
1. An account can be created by anyone anywhere.
2. To fund the servers all emails are paid for, e.g. 1 μBTC/MB to both send and receive.

Elephant Grass is an open-source Gmail script that requests Bitcoin payments from unknown email senders. If the sender pays you, their email makes it to your inbox.
