Is "ripple" or "ripples" deprecated? Is a singular unit called a ripple or ripples?

I’m not , but my position is that the name of the asset is the same as its three-letter ISO-4217 compliant code.
So:
0.5 XRP = 500,000 drops
1 XRP = 1 XRP
2 XRP = 2 XRP
…

Is that supposed to be an answer to the question? It’s always been clear that the currency and the protocol are two different things, just like Ethereum is not ether.
Actually, there is an enormous amount of confusion surrounding Ripple and XRP. I’ve spent the past 4 years trying really hard to help clear it up. Everybody is trying to be crystal clear here. Why is it too much to ask that you list XRP as XRP?

XRP is listed as XRP. Glad to finally come across an expert and educator on the topic. So, please tell us all what Ripple Labs' official position is on the various unit names.
