I’m sure that’s part of it but I’ve splurged for vine ripened at grocery. They’re aren’t as juicy & great tasting as the Amish ones

100% this. Let’s also acknowledge that non commercial tomato growers also take care on when to pull a ripe tomato. A slightly thirsty tomato plant has a more intense flavor than something that’s picked while almost literally drowning in water

They haven't poisoned the heck out of their soil I would guess and have beneficial bugs etc making the soil healthy.

If you got it at a farm stand it probably had been picked that day or the day before. If you get it at a grocery store, even if it was “local” it probably got picked, shipped to a distribution centre, and then shipped to your store where it would be stored and distributed.
