This tweet is in no way belittling endurance based exercise. It too is great for you. But you should include some strength work for the purpose of also building and preserving muscle mass. In short, even endurance athletes should strength train.

Perhaps we think about muscle mass as a health 401k that your body can tap as needed when you get older... I virtually never see a buffed-up senior citizen, but maybe the older amoung us have been maintaining (and tapping said resources already) those 'health 401k' reserves...

Almost no one keeps strength training into old age. I could posts dozens of pictures of sept and octuagenarians with solid builds, it’s just that most people simply stop of buy into the “slow down you are too old” mentality

Outside of exercise, I'm a firm believer in various supplementation for the purpose of longevity: "Conclusions: This study suggests that long-term consumption of Chlorella has the potential to prevent age-related muscle atrophy."https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25305781/

Though speculative in humans (just like damn near everything) I also think exogenous compounds can be low risk potential high reward. Worst case they are probably null with risk and reward
