The next time I think my mouse studies are difficult, I will think about the postdoc who had to catheterize and do blood flow measurements in free-living giraffes! Great talk by

This book was written in 1830 by Professor H.C. Ørsted. (The guy who discovered electromagnetism). Now I kinda know what it feels like to be a teenage girl meeting Justin Bieber 😃

Charles Darwin, Marie Curie, Albert Einstein. What do these science giants have in common? They all walked the floors of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences & Letters. Breathtaking venue for the August Krogh Symposium: Rising Stars in Physiology.

Interesting thought: The magnitude of the performance gap between male and female in different athletic disciplines may suggest that sprint ability has been a strong driver of evolutionary selection.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Today is Professor August Krogh’s 145th birthday. Amazing scientist! Among many other things, he built the first camera microscope in the world and captured these beautiful videos of capillary action.
