lol Robin Hanson just blocked me for repeatedly asking him why he doesn’t just set up the men with “inequal access to sex” with each other, he does NOT appear to like that point

Subsidized Fleshlights seems to be a popular suggestion that isn’t getting traction either

Ahhh, because that’s not sex! Sex is a NEED, like money... and one that can be easily generated from scratch by pairing up two of the people who lack it, whereas his plan would require a MASSIVE government subsidy! And this guy’s supposed to be an economist??

Nooooo, they want live humans. Make it equal. But ol’ Robin never specified that any kind of mutual attraction needed to be part of the deal. He can’t claim that they have NO access to sex; just sex that wouldn’t be their preference.

I’m not even arguing this as a “gotcha.” If he’s going to depersonalize sex and say that it’s owed to men by society, then the simplest solution is that the recipients can also be providers. If that doesn’t sit well with them, they can seek exactly what they want like others do.

I think there’s unfortunately no way to suggest that without devaluing sexual orientation, though, even in fun. These men who hate women also only are apparently attracted to them. They’re externalizing their own problem, but they can’t just go gay.

To be clear, it’s more like it’s illogical for Hanson to claim that sex is a commodity which can be stripped of all desire in its fulfillment, while not taking it to the logical conclusion that any government partner would provide sex as an act, and that’s it.

I’m not suggesting this an ACTUAL solution to the incel problem, mind you; just as the end conclusion of any program that would propose “sex redistribution,” because no way would there be enough women to go along with it, either.
