For gymnastics novices, what happened to Simone Biles today was like if Tom Brady's neck would break if he threw an incomplete pass. That's it. That's the ONLY appropriate analogy.

That's the margin for error we're talking about. She was losing air awareness during warm-ups. That she vaulted AT ALL given that is stunning and speaks to her not wanting to let her team down.

There are so many men in my mentions like, “No, it’s not. It’s like if he got tackled and paralyzed” and NO, THAT’S THE POINT. This is as mundane as throwing a bad pass in football except she can’t do it right now without risking massive injury or death.

Think about like you are standing up to fast after been laying down. When your head is spinning and the body is not. It’s a very scary thing to happened when you are 3-4 meters high up and as gymnastic coach seeing my gymnast losing control is the worst because you can do anythin

Do you know if this sorta stuff (losing air awareness/the twisties) just sorta happens and we don’t know why or if there’s worry about brain stuff like with concussions?

It's usually a mental block, very rarely caused by anything physical.

And, not for nothin', the flips she's capable of - gone wrong - would be deadly.

The tweet is implying the consequence of an error in the technical skill. If Tom Brady throws an incomplete pass, they might not get a first down. If Simone throws an “incomplete vault,” paralysis and brain injury are two very real possibilities.
