Imagine a US China Phase 2 trade deal that allowed US citizens the privilege of investing freely in Chinese markets....now imagine Chinese telling US citizens they cant sell their stocks or withdraw their money because of a Chinese virus.

Isn’t that already the case? I read somewhere that many foreign corporations set up in China are not allowed to repatriate money invested.

Stock market is supposed to be a "Free Market". In India markets were open even on Saturday on account of budget declaration so that everyone can "freely" enter and exit during this major event and doesn't get affected with huge gap up/down on Monday.

A run on the banks is most to be feared. The banks have been bankrupt for over 20 years. W/o increasing export revenue, there isn't enough money to keep things going. If people can't work to feed themselves, they will all take out their savings. Banks will close; PSB will enforce
