Richard Stallman is the reason I didn’t start contributing to open source (then called “free software”) in the 90s. I’m not the only one. RMS is a hero of his time. No, not perfect. He’s done a lot to advance Free Software. Open Source is different. The vitriol on this thread is not deserved or proper in a public forum.

I use his software everyday, all day, as do billions of other people. His impact is unassailable. I had never heard of you before you decided to bad-mouth a colleague in public. If you felt bullied by him or anyone else, use it as fuel. Becoming the bully doesn't help anyone.

Dude, I use the Dewey Decimal system every day, as do millions of other people. In fact I prefer it. That doesn't change the fact that Melvil Dewey was a racist, antisemitic sexual predator.
