Here’s a good illustration on the limitations of the standard interview format. Sociopaths/narcissists/abusers tend to excel in them.https://twitter.com/arram/status/1220530367515348994 …

1% of the population is estimated to be sociopathic (and overrepresented in business, positions of power). So it’s worth building in a “check” in your hiring process to take a closer look at seemingly “perfect” candidates that has won everyone over a little *too* easily.https://twitter.com/jenistyping/status/1207348556803260417 …

Jennifer Kim @jenistypingLook. No human is perfect. Often those w/ seemingly no faults end up causing the biggest headaches. In contrast, the best candidates sometimes trigger more doubts b/c their weaknesses are more on the surface (it could even be a sign of self-awareness). https://twitter.com/jenistyping/status/1118487629241053184 …Prikaži ovu nit5 proslijeđenih tweetova 12 korisnika označava da im se sviđaPrikaži ovu nit -

Here are some tactics for weeding out sociopaths/narcissists/abusers (but far from foolproof—these ppl are *masters* at making you fall in love with them and give away your power.)
Design your interviews to go *deep.* An onsite day with 30 min/each person isn’t that useful.https://twitter.com/jenistyping/status/1172535733577322501 …Jennifer Kim je dodan/na,

Pay attention to how team members of lesser perceived status are treated by candidates. Create a safe way for receptionists, EAs, and more junior members of the team to raise a flag
when something feels off to them.https://twitter.com/jenistyping/status/1133502255095779328 …Jennifer Kim je dodan/na,
Jennifer Kim @jenistypingI've previously written about the time my last startup decided to *not* hire a highly-qualified, impressive candidate — after a junior team member raised a flag that no one else noticed. Share your story (but ofc, w/careful judgment).
Other abusers/sociopaths may be deterred from applying to your jobs. Plus, you’ll teach the team to look out for the signs.
One reason these people cause so much damage is that we don’t talk out loud about the problem enough.
