Also to be hung up on the N word is to ignore other complaints about statements that were allegedly made about Black teens and white privilege that seem extremely problematic. But I guess reducing it to one word makes it easier for some to uphold the narrative of martyrdom

To be clear, I’ve never argued for Don to be fired — nor have many of my colleagues who’ve raised concerns about this. I’ve argued for full transparency. It is impossible to judge the situation w/out knowing all that was said. Sadly, we haven’t gotten that transparency.

There is no arguing, though, that they altered course under pressure and did so well after these allegations had originally been investigated. Is the ability of Black colleagues to persuade the paper to relitigate this also a sign of their isolation?
