I was at the demonstrations in Bucharest on Fri and Sat evenings, and can confirm that the violence was initiated by the gendarmes, who were mostly unprovoked. I was standing with my friend Vlad Alexandrescu, a senator from an anti-corruption party in an area w foreign reporters.
The police didn’t hesitate to spray tear gas into this area. Vlad’s 16 year old daughter was injured and taken away in an ambulance.
