People, including but not limited to Matt, have been fired because of these campaigns. It was good of @ebruenig to defend Maya, who doesn't deserve to be unemployed.
Matt was fired because of his behavior, not because of any campaign, and let's make this clear: the column is an outright lie-there was no mob on Twitter.

You should ask yourself why, regardless of whether a mob existed or we just imagined it in our hysteria, you've got such a complex about
@ebruenig calling for people to keep their jobs?? -

@ebruenig is deceiving no one, she 100% believes ppl shouldn't lose their jobs for political speech. Even if that's a bizarre opinion from your PoV, a lot of us need our jobs to eat and stuff. We take it pretty seriously. -

Why are you trying to gas us. We were there. And these same people have gotten ppl fired, Tom Watson for example. Also Neera Tanden is indeed a scumbag. Are you look up and gonna call my boss? And if so, who is harassing people here?

People (and not random nobodies) were calling for her being fired from her job. As they had before. Like I said you're not gonna gaslight us. In 2018 we aren't putting up with ppl trying to take wages away from our friends and comrades for political speech anymore

Wait, I thought nobody was calling for ppl to be fired and this was some hysterical straw argument?
