Asylum seekers are often fleeing cruelty that is honestly unthinkable — if you haven’t experienced that type of fear or heard their stories directly there really is no way to put yourself in their shoes.
The relief of safety for these people is life alerting — and they contribute to the best of society. We are fortunate to have immigrants and need to protect their rights; especially under the (hopefully) current administration which uses creative tactics to undermine the process.
A prideful disclosure: a portion of the funds supports my wife’s asylum law work at http://josemarinlaw.com . They are a small team of lawyers and support staff working on behalf of mostly (but not exclusively) women from Central America. I also moonlight as their IT person ;)
