Does this automatically apply to Falcon Heavy as well? Or would that need its own full (or partial) certification?
SpaceX announces that NASA’s Launch Services Program has given Category 3 certification to the Falcon 9, making it eligible for “NASA’s highest cost and most complex scientific missions,” according to its statement.

I’m not certain offhand what special certification or oversight RTG missions need, but it is more than a typical mission.

Most medium to large science missions (from Discovery class on up) require Category 3 launch vehicles.
