Thanks for the excellent service! Any plans for dnscrypt support? (DNS over HTTPS) is agonizingly slow on common ARM hardware)
I can try adding dnscrypt support to knot (if only to get more familiar with the code). Not sure that it would make them deploy it though.
Is the cipher implementation on ARM too slow? cloudflared doesn’t do pipelining yet (dnscrypt-proxy maybe does?), but it does connection reuse. Once it’s connected, the latency should be comparable.
Key exchange is acceptable on the RPi3, very slow on other RPis. Same for the cipher, AES is slower than ChaCha on these devices.
The 1.1.1.1 supports ChaCha I think
It does, but if the UA doesn’t look like a mobile device and the client prefers the server suites, it won’t :)
What UA does dnscrypt-proxy use?
“dnscrypt-proxy”. Very boring. But the ciphersuite can now be specified, so no big deal. RSA+ChaCha is way faster on ARM and MIPS. I can later enforce that by default on these platforms.
