I use PiHole in front of 1.1.1.1 to block ads/tracking. Very simple to maintain.
Nod. Pi-hole has a simple, slick interface and it just works. dnscrypt-proxy has better filters. I wish both were combined as an official project.
The real challenge has been device config, especially mobile. OpenDNS was just a DHCP setting and a port 53 pinhole. A less invasive approach than to configure manually / per device. Thanks @jedisct1 I'll check this out today.
