DNS-over-TLS is useless. You pay for the complexity of a TLS layer, yet don’t get any benefits over DNSCrypt and DoH.
Ease of deployment. Can be a simple web server module, configured like a vhost. Works everywhere HTTP/2 works. Callable in Javascript from web applications. Doesn’t need a dedicated port. Can leverage HTTP/2 reordering, parallelism, and priority mechanisms.
