Does the "/dev/tcp/<host>/<port>" trick works under the Apple "proprietary" OS/shell?

Still, that wouldn’t support the telnet protocol. Maybe netcat does, though.

This would have been more bothersome 15 years ago (before ssh was as common as it is). telnet seems like a specialty item these days.

That was the main 'specialty application' I was thinking of when I wrote that. (Also seen netcat used similarly.)
