@jedisct1 I've got some small VPSs at different providers & would like to run small tasks (e.g. generate PDFs). They should communicate on their own network. Which solution would you prefer? There is tinc, PeerVPN etc. Some use shared secrets, some use certificates. Or even SSH?
I’ve heard good things about Zerotier. But ssh would be more secure as you can restrict the set of commands that can run.

Thanks for your reply. OpenSSH also can create a TAP-tunnel, but level2 might harm performance. But do I need a mesh at all? Maybe remote-tunneled ports are enough to send "make PDF" and listen for a binary getting returned. What about dsvpn?

Honestly I would just write a HTTP or gRPC service for that.
