The next step after encrypted DNS: anonymized DNS. I’m thrilled to announce the first generally available implementations of the Anonymized DNScrypt protocol. https://www.reddit.com/r/dnscrypt/comments/dhoxah/anonymized_dns_is_here/ … - Say no to centralization. We need DNS relays all over the world.

No gossipping. The protocol is extremely simple: https://github.com/DNSCrypt/dnscrypt-protocol/blob/master/ANONYMIZED-DNSCRYPT.txt …

Looks like an onion protocol. What's the benefit of this, vs. doing DoH via TOR?

From reading the post, I would say reduced overhead and reduced exposure.

Doesn't the onus of trust now just shift from the DNS provider to the Relay provider? The Relay needs to know who to send the response to, correct?

I am probably misunderstanding this, but the threat model looks like Crowds

No, I was wrong. It isn't crowds; it's (I think?) an unauthenticated one-hop proxy.

Interesting. Similar to Oblivious DoH https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-pauly-dprive-oblivious-doh … by several folks including @mcmanusducksong
