Maybe the number of client connection retries (or the time after which we give up reconnecting) should simply be configurable? To prevent leaks, the routing rules are not removed during reconnection attempts.
I’ve noticed that (have bitten me twice in a remote machine that I forgot to stop dsvpn). I think that retries and firewall rules are two separated things even if the result seems the same. I would suggest to stop dsvpn after x retries.
The iptable example is (what I call) a nuclear option just for special cases. To be honest what I miss the most is the configuration of adding custom routing rules because everytime I start dsvpn existing ssh connections are dropped and I have to reconnect again
Does DSVPN leak DNS?
