In general, the main thing I see is closed web services: make it as cumbersome as possible for a program to actually login to the service, and do things with it. This is a worrisome tendancy. It used to be you could use WWW::Mechanize to get things on the web.

... having to log in through the browser means you only get to access the information you added to the service in the way they want YOU to see it, thus making it harder to avoid ads for instance...
