But wasn’t Cocoa released 18 years ago? This is quite ridiculous no matter what. I can’t think of any other application still using Carbon in 2019.

also the pricing is quite 90ties, there should be a community/research edition that's free for non commercial use. would probably also help spreading the use of the software many switched to R just because mathematica is so expensive. though many universities have bulk licenses.

Isn’t the Raspberry Pi version free? But yes, even the Home edition is expensive, and runs on a single computer.

I love, love, love Mathematica. I did all of undergrad math work on it personally, and continued to use it for years after. But after problematic upgrades and bugs, I found their customer support horrible and their pricing ridiculous. Eventually, I switched to GNU Octave.

I still purchased their mobile WolframAlpha app anyway, and honestly, probably use that more than Octave on my laptop. Still, it was growing pains, but Octave was worth the switch.
