Not in the BSD man pages. Anyway, I’ve yet to find applications actually using this.

at a guess, I thought "xwindows", and of course, yep, found two uses straight away. xfwp(1) and video(1) (specific to OpenBSD, that last one). As suspected, converting gfx data from hw to the host.

on the ironic side, our dd has a "swab" option which isn't implemented using swab(3)... go figure
