It makes perfect sense! "31415" is a pointer const char* https://ideone.com/QKKvAN The + and - operator is arithmetic on pointers. Division by 0.0 is a floating point normal result, not a C++ problem. The integer division by 0 cause an exception. All is OK. :-)

you do realize this only makes sense if you are an expert in C? And that for an outsider this all looks rather strange, including the difference between 1/1.0 and 1/0?
