In the reform debate, we focus way too much on new shiny institutions and too little on policies and competences. My take on why the Eurozone does not need a treasury but proper common fiscal policy 👇

The name "England" is derived from the Old English name Englaland, which means "land of the Angles". The Angles were one of the Germanic tribes that settled in Great Britain during the Early Middle Ages. So in effect, England means land of a German tribe.

The rise of authoritarianism is like global warming: once it starts it's difficult to stop it. The deeper problem is not Trump etc but that our all too vulnerable democracies can't handle this True challenge is to improve the immune system of our democracies. Philosophy can help.

Rather than shutting down dissenting voices, authoritarian “leaders have learned to harness the democratizing power of social media for their own purposes—jamming the signals, sowing confusion.” “democratizing power”?

DE, FR, IT, PL letter to indicates they’re pretty annoyed at pace of reform. Some fairly straightforward ideas in there. Some nutty ones. will argue that it’s no surprise big countries want loose rules. They’d benefit from that. But smaller MS suffer. 1/

Interesting! Have we seen other examples of court cases where AI/algorithms have been outlawed on the basis of human rights abuse? I thought the GDPR was the best hope for AI regulation but perhaps there's another way...

Over the last couple days, I've been accused of being an "eu fanboy" and also of "ridiculing the CJEU". With both sides hating me, I must be doing something right.

“...but I swore an oath before God -and I am a religious person- that I would apply impartial justice.” Romney invoking some pretty heavy terms here as he says Trump should be removed from office. This will shake the GOP to its core.

Having proven Trump guilty, I asked if there was just one Republican Senator who would say “enough” Who would stand up against this dangerously immoral president Who would display moral courage Who would do impartial justice as their oath required and convict And there is.
