Tentatively, I’d say there are two groups watching Wandavision: 1) mostly women who intuitively understand the metaphor/conceit (&Wanda as a character) & connect with how out of control yet in control the grief/depression spiral can be and can feel, that the paradox is the point

In a way Wandavision feels like a test of how the MCU conceit can bring a lot of audiences who wouldn’t normally watch out of their comfort zone and into genres they’re not accustomed to. But bringing an ox to water doesn’t mean they will drink, I suppose.

Slightly reminded of the response to Claudia Grey’s Lost Stars, which frustrated many Star Wars veterans for being a love story? Something something, genres are weird.

This isn’t me saying people have to read out of their comfort zones or like everything in an extended universe experiment (etc) but watching the responses ripple out every wandavision episode fills me with both frustration and fascination

It makes me sad people are watching it this way. If you watched Infinity War and End Game ... I mean are there really so many people who don't understand grief? Ugh, gonna go cry for humanity brb
-
Like I legit felt sick watching the first episode because I was just waiting for things to go sideways.
