Your attack on my cast mate , in the defense of my fellow Korean artist Ins Choi is neither helpful nor merited. Mr. Choi wrote the play, I was in in. He created the TV show, but his co-creator Mr. Kevin White was the showrunner, and clearly set the parameters.
What nonsense is this? “Bathed in golden light?” This man is all seven deadly sins rolled up into one monsterous orange blob of reckless corruption, and you are writing him up like he’s some Greek god, or something. Ridiculous & irresponsible, bordering on outright propaganda.

For me, today's announcement completes almost exactly a full decade of Kim's Convenience. It was around this time of year writer/actor Ins Choi asked me to play Umma in the Toronto Fringe Festival.
Over the years, I played Mrs. Kim in 381 live shows, 65 TV episodes...
This is a FACT that was concealed from us as a cast. It was evident from Mr. Choi's diminished presence on set, or in response to script questions. Between S4 and S5, this FACT became a crisis, and in S5 we were told Mr. Choi was resuming control of the show.

My doctor brother won't be coming for dinner this week because he's monitoring himself after exposure to a six month old baby with a bad BAD case of Covid. The parents are unvaccinated. He said they were wailing & crying, and he's just... exhausted.

Today, my father Professor Emeritus Dr. Taek-Soon Yoon turns 91. Born on a tiny island in S Korea, he grew up digging 낙지, little octopi, to bring home for supper. He loves fresh seafood. I can't celebrate with him but have sent him fresh PEI oysters & tuna. BEST DAD EVER.

My son Anand snapped this photo a few weeks ago after a visit with my folks. We were surprised to see bustling crowds in front of Robarts Library at U of T, everyone jockeying for Cherry Blossom photos.
What I find tragic about this situation was the refusal to believe the urgency with which we advocated for inclusion in the writers room. The failure to send us treatments, outlines, the resistance to cultural corrections & feedback. There is so much I am proud of. But

I GOT MY THIRD Pfizer BOOSTER shot today! Walked into the local pharmacy, filled out a few forms, was in & out in about 25 minutes. Got the flu shot as well. Now I have to figure out how to cancel the appointment I booked on the stupid provincial website. Oh wow, I'm so relieved.
