    We are inspecting our levee & Missouri River Wastewater Treatment Plant around the clock using drone & visual surveillance. Our Public Works staff is again doing an amazing job to keep the plant safe & operational. Plant is south of Veterans Memorial Bridge. Photos taken at 6pm

    UPDATED SHELTER LOCATIONS - March 16th - 4:00 PM Anyone who has been displaced from their home is urged to come to a shelter. Volunteers are on hand to provide a safe place to stay, a place to sleep, a hot meal and referrals to community services.

    After reviewing aerial photos taken today, the Center Street bridge that washed out is at 240th Street, not Highway 275. Please plan ahead, and again for your safety, please don't drive around barricades or drive through water!

    Reports that Omaha's drinking water has been compromised by flooding or is in short supply are not accurate. There is no threat to the drinking water supply as reported by MUD. Please help us get this important message out.

    The Center Street bridge at Highway 275 washed out overnight, one of many roads closed in western Douglas County. It's very important to remind drivers not to drive around barricades. These roads are underwater and closed for your safety.

    Please share this important message: Unified Command will cease non-emergency evacuations in the Valley & Waterloo areas at 9:00 tonight. Residents not rescued by this time should shelter in place until morning. Rescues will resume at sunrise. Call 9-1-1 for medical emergencies.

    The Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge is closed due to flooding on the Council Bluffs side of the bridge. The power supply to the bridge, located on the Bluffs side, is underwater. Power has been shut off. The USS Hazard and other exhibits at Freedom Park have been secured.

    Pershing Drive from Ponca Rd to Oakridge Drive remains closed due to flooding, debris on the road, and threat of mudslides. Additional safety precautions may be necessary. Private property owners near the Missouri River levee that are prone to flooding, should take precautions.

    CITY OF OMAHA ACTIONS AND PRECAUTIONS: The city has 10 pumps if needed to drain low-lying areas on the dry side of the levee. The gates are being installed at Lewis and Clark Landing which will prevent access to the parking lots.

    The Corps of Engineers expects the Missouri River to crest at 33.7 feet by Sunday March 17. By comparison, during the 2011 flood the river crested at approximately 36’, 2 and the levee was not breached.

    Important information from : Winter storms have delayed solid waste collection by nearly a full day. You can assist Waste Management by *putting your trash out for collection on your regular collection day, some collections will occur on schedule.

    On residential streets, we are spreading sand. We plan to pick up snow piles in the middle of the downtown, Dodge and Maple locations beginning Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. This is a day later than first planned.
