repeatedly, in the year of our lord 2018, black people who try to encourage people to vote are charged with crimes and, in some cases, face over 100 years of prison! i wrote about it here.

I see the women cheering on R. Kelly and I damn near panic wondering if there’s anything I’m that ignorant and awful about today, and I just haven’t realized it yet. (Does anyone does think like this? If not, don’t try it. It’s miserable)

My take on Rashida Tlaib is that while the Democratic Party is being pushed to the left on policy, it's not really being pushed left at all on political temperament. And the policy doesn't really have a prayer unless people make the second push happen as well.

If literally anyone in your life - a friend, a family member, or co-worker - spoke at length extemporaneosly the way Trump does you would be *deeply* concerned and unnerved.

Random thing of the day: I walk into a Charleston, SC antique store. Owner chats me up. Tells me he has a friend on Capitol Hill who regularly sees Steve Bannon at a local convenience mart “staring at the hot dog machine.”

In 18 of 22 Gallup surveys conducted since 1993, at least 6 in 10 Americans said there was more crime in the US compared with the year before. But during that span the nation's violent crime rate has fallen 74% and the property crime rate has fallen 69%.

"Every single child that I interviewed told me they were still being forcibly medicated." The government is violating a federal judge’s order to stop medicating immigrant kids at a troubled Texas shelter without proper consent, according to the children's attorneys.

There are nearly 60,000 kids locked up in America’s juvenile and adult jails and prisons. Caging kids is an American tradition. Trump didn't start it, but we can end it. by

The NYT is suggesting that sex 44 times a day would be living my best life. At the risk of prudishness, I do wonder whether there's a happy medium where we could have a tad less sex and still text a little.

Odd. Per transcript, two different Fort Worth officials asserted that the city had a recent murder total above 300 victims and Fitzgerald brought it down below 70. That’s not even close to being true in any way; the highest ever was 200 in 1987; in recent years, double digits
