    Kim Hubbard was inducted into in 2021 for creating & stewarding a fair & sustainable system for allocating IP addresses, safeguarding the Internet’s development as a member-driven, self-governing network. Learn more:

    Through her founding and leadership of ARIN and her work to establish policies that allocated Internet addresses based on need, not power or influence, Kim Hubbard helped foster the bottom-up self-governance model in use today. Hubbard saw the need for stewardship of limited IP address resources, made it her mission to find a solution for the Internet community and persevered in maintaining a fair system.

    Dr. Lixia Zhang’s design of the Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP),  has helped enable the effective management and growth of the Internet’s backbone networks for over two decades. She also helped develop the Stream Control Transmission Protocol, and is credited with coining the word “middlebox” for devices that are injected into networks to perform functions on data other than those performed by a regular router.
