Did anyone else spend their childhood believing that cutting these things up so sea turtles(?) wouldn’t get caught in them was the most urgent work on earth?pic.twitter.com/XBBUsH9RHd

I actually still do it with the same sense of purpose but I can’t even remember exactly what animal (bird?) I’m protecting and from what

It was this and telling your parents not to smoke. Pretty sure they had school assemblies dedicated to both.

So to show how old I am. I remember friends doing this at the insistence of their kids, not being taught this when we were kids. Who knows if it’s applicable or how much US landfill ends up in the oceans.

it’s applicable but sadly if the sea turtles aren’t being strangled by them, they’re eating themhttps://www.cnn.com/2018/12/05/world/microplastic-pollution-turtles-study-intl-scli/index.html …
