The US number isn't ideal since it excludes the uninsured, but it's also per stay, not per day. The average cost per day (not out of pocket, but total cost, some of which may be paid by insurance) in the US is $3,949 (https://www.latimes.com/business/la-xpm-2012-mar-06-la-fi-mo-u.s.-medical-prices-high-20120306-story.html …).
In the non-US countries, numbers are for basic coverage per day. Optional services like private rooms, tv, parking, etc may bring the actual average up, but it's a pretty marginal difference.
Is this the average of all people, employer plans and exchanges? Probably not including Medicaid & Medicare?
