In the city of Monroe, NC (your district) in 1958, two black children were unjustly arrested for rape after playing with a white girl. The police kidnapped them, beat them, and held them without allowing them access to their parents or lawyers. They spent five months in jail.

They were sentenced to stay in until 21, but were released after the case went international. Their families were threatened by the KKK with support from MPD. I would like to know if you can look at those survivors and their families and tell them they are "playing the victim".
