... she would have a workers compensation claim for lost wages (called temporary total disability) and medical care. Usually paid for by the employer’s workers compensation insurer. But sick pay and leave pay offset temp total, so the insurer will pay less, the employer more.
Also, leave pay from the employer is taxable to the employee. Workers comp benefits are not. So the employee is disadvantaged as well. Not smart.
