it should also work if you draw a map in your own favorite image editor and copy-paste it in to the page, ideally 500x500px, consisting of only #fff (blank) and #f00 (node) and #00f (edge) pixels.

Thanks very much for the feature request! It's fascinating how little changes for certain root-changes inside the Tutte graph --- sometimes changes are localized to the same third.

Also it's much easier to directly observe the symmetry of the polyhedral graphs - quite visibly, the lambda term doesn't change at all when you re-root!

this is great! How do you pick where to root the map?

the intent was a rather arbitrary choice of "take the node closest to the top of the image, and break the edge on its counter-clockwise side". Though I'm not 100% sure that the way I coded it up might not do something else in weird edge cases.
