Sad to see the abi stability of swift being deferred. This language is going to be old hat by the time I get to use it.

@jckarter@queersorceress Is there any chance that iOS could keep a cache of Swift runtimes shared between apps? -
@jckarter@queersorceress (I'm sure you're not responsible for this, but I'll float the idea anyway just in case it hasn't been discussed) - View other replies

@queersorceress@jckarter Hmm, interesting, why's that? My impression is that there are only a handful of release versions of the runtime. -
@queersorceress@jckarter I'm an edge case, but I have hundreds of apps on my phone and download dozens of app updates every week. - View other replies

@queersorceress@jckarter In my imagination, non-release versions of the runtime wouldn't be included in the cache. -

@jckarter y’all are doing fantastic work

@jckarter@queersorceress An ABI is never late, nor is it early. It arrives precisely when it means to! -
@jckarter@queersorceress@ericasadun I couldn't agree more with you! -
@jckarter@queersorceress Why have a stable non-C ABI at all?Why not ship versioned low-level IL that's compiled by system/AppStore service?
