Poker Face is absolutely phenomenal TV and I am not sure why they consulted BBQ dudes from Pine Bush NY for an episode about a Black pitmaster in Texas, but now we know what why George says “pecan” that way

Harry says he cut 400 pages from his original ms, but does he know the difference between Word pages and book pages??
If folx are gonna stay on here, are there emerging best practices for protecting our people and ourselves from these harms? Beyond going elsewhere for substantive convos, how are you changing your behavior on this site, if at all?

I'm seeing a lot of discussions of this site that are either "CHOP CHOP" or "OH WELL," but very little stuff coming across my feed about how to remain on Twitter while building community elsewhere--seems important, given how many folks are compelled to keep a presence here

If Twitter crashes and you need to find me, the hell you will. I've got a two day head start on you, which is more than I need. I speak a dozen languages, know every local custom, I'll blend in, disappear, you'll never see me again.

What's a fact? Latour went about his life like a detective trying to crack this unsolved case. With a negative capability I found deeply moving, he treated everything—and everyone—as a potential clue. As he wrote to me recently, "What a circus it was!"

So much of my learning and work is predicated on Latour, yet what strikes me most is that I've heard so many people who worked with him say he was deeply kind. What a loss.

1. It is with great sadness that we learn the news of Bruno Latour’s passing today. He was an intellectual giant, a friend, & someone whose work inspired me greatly. A thread for those who want to know more about this extraordinary life.
