As if we didn't write the Constitution, in many ways, specifically to counter rank majoritarianism. The Bill of Rights isn't just a suggestion. The fact that many state governments have violated our federal Constitution on innumerable occasions isn't counter to that.

Athens doesn't get to dictate what democracy means, and regardless, Athens wasn't a dictatorship of the majority or anything close to that.

Dan’s view gets incoherent when combined with federalism. If there’s a state supermajority saying you can’t vote and a national supermajority saying you can, what happens?
