I hate how we use titles in the tech industry. I’ve seen senior developers make rookie mistakes and I’ve seen junior developers deliver incredible code. We should stop placing people in buckets based on their titles. Senior !== most skilled. Junior !== least skilled.

Maybe we should also be more careful with giving out titles and giving them because of level and not because of years worked. Having absolutely no titles is also weird. You might want to know whom you may ask if having problems and you need to know who needs assistance.

But what if these titles actually create a barrier for people to approach more senior people? If I have a question I ask around until I find the person that can answer it, not by looking in the employee database sorted by XP.

I think being senior should by definition include “willing and able to guide others“, so there should be no barrier. If you just ask around titles shouldn't interfere at all, so no problem there :)
